When Dental Pain Can't Wait

Dental emergencies happen without warning—a sudden toothache, a cracked tooth from biting down wrong, or an accident that knocks out a tooth. At Livingston Dental Group, we understand that dental pain and trauma require immediate attention, and we're here to help.

We treat a full range of urgent dental problems with care and skill, working quickly to relieve your pain and protect your oral health.

Emergencies We Treat

Severe Toothaches
Persistent, throbbing tooth pain often signals infection or decay that needs immediate care. We'll diagnose the cause and provide relief.

Abscesses
These painful infections at the root of a tooth or in the gums require prompt treatment to prevent the infection from spreading.

Knocked Out, Broken, or Cracked Teeth
Accidents happen. If a tooth is knocked out, time is critical—we'll do everything possible to save it. Broken and cracked teeth also need fast attention to prevent further damage.

Jaw Injuries
Trauma to the jaw can affect your bite, cause pain, and lead to complications. We'll assess the injury and coordinate the right treatment.

Gum Lacerations
Cuts to the gums from falls, sports injuries, or accidents can bleed heavily and may need stitches or other care.

Loose or Lost Crowns and Fillings
A lost crown or filling leaves your tooth vulnerable. We'll repair or replace it to restore protection and function.

Severe Sensitivities
Sudden, sharp sensitivity to hot, cold, or pressure can indicate a cracked tooth, exposed root, or other urgent issue.

Broken Dentures or Retainers
We can often repair or replace broken appliances quickly so you're not left without them.

Objects Lodged Between Teeth
If something is stuck and you can't remove it with floss, we'll safely extract it without damaging your teeth or gums.

What to Do in a Dental Emergency

  • Severe pain or swelling: Rinse with warm salt water and take over-the-counter pain relief. Call us right away.
  • Knocked-out tooth: Handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, keep it moist in milk or saliva and get to us within the hour.
  • Broken tooth: Rinse your mouth, save any pieces, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
  • Lost crown or filling: Keep the area clean and avoid chewing on that side until we can see you.

Then call Livingston Dental Group. We'll guide you through next steps and get you in as soon as possible.
